Free public parking is very limited. Private beach clubs have paid parking (€3–5/day). Hotels with private parking are gold during peak weeks.
For Italian families coming off the ferry, a mid-size sedan (Skoda Octavia or similar) fits 4–5 suitcases and cruises the highway without strain.
