Questions travellers ask us most
Everything you need to know before you pick up the keys in Albania.
Is renting a car in Albania safe?
+
Yes. Every operator on RentPro Albania is a registered, verified and insured business. Each vehicle includes mandatory third-party insurance, a valid technical inspection and a documented service history. More than 12,000 travellers choose this route every year.
Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?
+
Visitors from the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom and the United States can drive in Albania on their national licence for stays up to 90 days. For longer stays — or if your licence isn't in the Latin alphabet — an IDP is recommended. It's cheap and saves time at the border.
Can I take the car to Kosovo, Montenegro or Greece?
+
Yes. You'll need a Green Card (insurance extension) and prior approval from the operator. Tell us your itinerary at booking and we'll arrange the paperwork — usually within 24 hours.
What documents do I need to pick up the car?
+
Passport or national ID, a valid driving licence (held at least 1 year) and a credit or debit card in the driver's name for the deposit. Minimum age is 21 (some premium categories require 25+).
How does pickup at Tirana Airport work?
+
Tell us your date, time and flight number at booking. The operator meets you at the arrivals terminal with a name sign, or at their handover desk — no extra waiting, no shuttle buses. Pickups also work overnight and on public holidays.
Are the roads in Albania good?
+
Highways (SH1, A1, A2) and main inter-city roads are paved and in very good condition. Some mountain routes (Theth, Llogara Pass, Valbona) are more technical — for those an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, and you can filter for it directly in search.
